Anyone have a good experience with Lupron?

Hi , I am new to this group and start my first Lupron injection tomorrow, the doctor wants me on a monthly injection for at least 4 months and then book my hysterectomy. I have been thru heck and back with severe endometriosis that apparently has caused 20 years worth of damage? I had a gastric by pass 3 years ago and have had my gallbladder, appendix taken out and now have celiac and a soy intolerance, apparently the endo has been seen thru all of my GI surgeries as well. I have had emergency surgery due to scar tissue wrapped around my bowel. So in short I am so very happy that the severe pain that makes me double over may be coming to an end finally however I am a little scarred with all the negative things I have been reading about Lupron and the side effects. Has anyone had a good experience with the Lupron? I am thinking maybe I should come with a warning label, lol sending a almost 40 year old natural red headed Leo into menopause lol good greif!!!!

Re: hyst for endo or lupron first?

I did very well with the Lupron. I really had no problems with it and it really helped me a lot. I had hot flashes and ended up with ad back therapy for that. You may do great with it. Sending you some hugs and prayers for a good outcome with it.

I'm on my first month and aside from some hot flashes I haven't had any pain for the past 2 weeks. So there is always hope!

Re: Anyone have a good experience with Lupron?

I had Lupron shots for 6 months prior to a bowel resection to remove endometriosis . I was really suffering so my doctor recommended it to 'shut everything down' to alleviate my symptoms and to attempt to shrink my endometrioma prior to surgery. The Lupron helped me immensely. My symptoms pretty much disappeared.

I had no noticeable side effects during the 6 months I took the Lupron shots and I felt so much better.

Re: Anyone have a good experience with Lupron?

I just had my hysterectomy 2 days ago and was diagnosed with endo. Had to remove my right ovary due to endo. My dr has also suggested Lupron and I hadnt heard much about it myself. Curious as to side effects and how it works.

Re: Anyone have a good experience with Lupron?

I had my first Lupron injection on May 23rd. It was the 3-month dose. I haven't really had any major side effects from it. I have had horrible night sweats for over 10 years and continue to have them. I have had a few hot flashes, but nothing that I can't stand. I just know it is from the Lupron and don't worry about it too much. I am also on the add-back therapy. My pain has not been alleviated and I am still bleeding/spotting. So, although I haven't had any major side effects from the Lupron, I also haven't had any relief with it. I have moderate to sever endo confirmed with a laparoscopy in March of this year. My pain has only gotten worse. Now my dr has referred me to a pain mgmt specialist in hopes to get my pain under control. Hysterectomy may be in my future. Hang in there, sister!!! Lupron has helped a lot of women, and I hope you are one of them!!!

Thanks for the information. I hope you have a resolution to your pain soon. I am hoping that Lupron keeps me from flare ups in the future.
