Pre-op appt...TVH now TAH

I went to my pre-op appt today. Was plainning a TVH due to adenomyosis, but I started having pain on my Lt side last Thurs. that has not let up... ? cyst on ovary. I have had LLQ pain for almost 4 years... off & on during my cycle. My Dr. really thinks we should do an TAH so she can get a good look at everything and hopefully find the source. All of my past U/S have been OK as far as the ovaries are concerned. My last sono they had a hard time seeing my lt. one. My gyn says it might be stuck to my uterus... So, I am confidant that this is a wise decision, just not looking forward to the abd incision! Best wishes to all of the other ladies in waiting. See you on the other side! By the way...I'm doing the happy dance... no bowel prep!

Pre-op appt...TVH now TAH

Hi Ariel,
May 15, 2007 I had a TAH due to adenomyosis. Fortunately I was able to have two children. My first was born c-section thus the reason the doctor opted to due the TAH. I too, had been having problems on the left ovary, burst cysts, and lots of pain. When she opened me she discovered endometriosis on my left ovary and burnt off what she could find. We are now waiting to see how it turns out. My incision is practically healed. I had staples until I the day I left the hospital then all I had was butterfly strips no bandages. I think it helped my incision heal as fast as it has. I did have a small opening on the right side but just cleaned it out with peroxide two times a day and it looks really good (considering). Tomorrow will be 4 wks and I am still in some pain, but everything is going really well. I will give you some important advice. DON'T STOP TAKING YOUR STOOL SOFTENERS!!!! I am sure that the TVH hurts too, but after your ab incision and other tissues being cut it hurts to "go" after surgery and if you stop taking your stool softeners you'll regret it, I know from experience

Good luck to you hun and when you need some extra support we are here!
