D&C after ablation? Doc wants to do a d&c before he will schedule LSH?

Hi all,
Just had my doc appt today and we decided that hysterectomy is the way to go since we have tried everything else to stop my bleeding from fibroids including hormones and an ablation. He said he wants to schedule a d&c before the hysterectomy to rule out cancer so he knows if he will need to take my ovaries and cervix too. Did anyone else have this done . Can't they do a pathology test during the hysterectomy? He says he may not be able to do it since the ablation might have made my cervix impassable anyway. Has anyone had a d&c after a healed ablation? Thanks!

Ps- I'm 43 with several fibroids in the wall of my uterus. Otherwise healthy.

I am sorry you are having this trouble. I have indeed had a D&C several years after a healed ablation. For me personally I was glad it was done as I had just had a normal pap two weeks prior and as they were backing out from the D&C they caught the top of my cervix and sent it to pathology, CINIII high grade lesions. This was follow by a cone biopsy, which has completely destroyed my cervix. I think, because it was mentioned to me, that insurances require they do ALL other procedures before they will approve a hysterectomy. I really hope this was not TMI or too scary.
