One week post hysterectomy: Turning a corner in recovery

Hi everyone, today at this time last week I was having my TAH surgery. It's hard to believe a whole week has passed, I guess that's because the first three days I was in lah lah narcotic-induced fuzz. But what progress

Yesterday afternoon I went out....yes out into the big wide world of "normal" people to a 50th birthday afternoon tea. (In NZ an afternoon tea is quite an event which eliminates any need for a dinner afterwards, so much yummy food) I was able to chat with a number of women who have also been through this, and I had no idea even though I have known them for a while. It was so reassuring. I had a lovely time. I had the best nights sleep last night, no more laxatives for me and no more tramadol, so this morning I feel good. I can sense my body healing and I can see a future when I will be back to normal. Hey, my belly stills hurts like hell, and is swollen, my cough is still lurking, and my voo-voo is still sore from the prolapse surgery, but I feel like I have turned a corner. I wanted to share this feeling to those who are not quite there yet, your day is very soon, hang in there

Yep the belly does hurt for a while after but glad you are starting to feel more like yourself.
And its funny hey finding people who have had it done that you see on a regular basis and you had no idea.
Well hope you just feel more and more like normal
