Swimming Post Hysterectomy?

We are really hoping to do part of my recovery away (aiming for 4 wks post op). Will getting in the pool or ocean be okay by then?

You need to check with your doctor. With the type of hysterectomy you are having, it can be 6 weeks before you are allowed to swim. There are issues with water coming in contact with your incision as well as exercising healing areas. Neither the ocean or pool are sanitary which can also cause issues.

I hadrosaur 6 weeks and then get the OK from the doc. You,will have to talk to him as all,doc's are different.

I had a TAH and my doctor okayed me for swimming in the ocean at four weeks. However, most of the other sisters seem to have been told six weeks, so you really need to check with your own doc.

I swim at the Y 3 days a week. My surgery and recovery were relatively uncomplicated, and I was cleared to resume swimming after 2 weeks, once my incisions had healed. However, every surgery is different, and every surgeon has a slightly different preference, so as the others have said, it's always a good idea to ask your surgeon. Asking your dr is the best option, as you can see, we all got different instructions. I had to wait 6 weeks

Hoping 4 wks in the magic number but I guess it depends on healing. Would not be fun to go away somewhere warm and not go in the water...
