Spotting after intercourse....

Hi everyone......I am new to the site. I am almost a year post-op and have started to have spotting and pain in my right side after sex. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have spotted a couple times following sex in the years since my hysterectomy. In my case, we never did quite figure out what it might have been.

Though your survey states that you kept your ovaries, you might be experiencing some hormonal imbalance issues which can cause vaginal dryness issues which can cause some spotting with intercourse.

It is possible there is an issue with your cuff causing the spotting.

Also, you marked adenomyosis/endometriosis as the reason for your surgery. It is possible there is some endo causing the problem.

The pain could be an ovary issue, muscles, adhesions, endometriosis, and more.

I would suggest writing down your symptoms and put in a call to your doctor. There are a wide range of reasons for spotting and pain but you need to talk to your doctor about what is causing yours.

How funny. I was just at the doctor for the same thing today. After a very long exam, the doc found a tender spot where there was granulation tissue on the vaginal cuff that was bleeding. She cauterized it.

I have heard (although it is unusual) that you can also have endometrial implants in the vaginal cuff.

Just when you think you are done with all that bleeding stuff.....call your doctor, they will probably get you right in to be checked.

Weiser and kbe1956.......thanks for the encouraging words. I was really shocked that this is happening. All of this was suppose to be over!!!!!!! I have an appointment set up to see the doctor but it is nice and reassuring to know that people care and are willing to share their experience. All the best to you.
