okay...scheduling for early november

I just told the doctor today to schedule the surgery. Still not sure exactly which type (there are so many) but I know I'm keeping the ovaries.

I've had heavy bleeding for four years, been on the pill most of that time and it stopped working--to the point I had to miss work/work at home to be able to make it to the bathroom in time. Now I'm on depo-provera and hate it. Sure the bleeding is nearly nothing, but I'm really hormonal and tired all the time.

I don't have cancer or fibroids--countless sonograms and two biopsies prove that--so this seems to be the only way for me to regain my life.

I'm both scared and looking forward to selling my stock in tampax. And stayfree. And anything else that'll work in a pinch. But I also know I won't regret it. It's still a stressful decision to make.

Any words of wisdom, kindness, anything is so appreciated.

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,
I'm not very wise but I can offer you kindness and support. Waiting for surgery is nerve racking to say the least. The good news is that you don't have cancer , the hyst will stop the bleeding, & you get to keep your ovaries . Still a hysterectomy is major surgery and we all worry and get nervous. A lot of us make lists of questions we have & take them with us so we' ll remember what to ask the dr. I think knowing what kind of surgery & what it will mean for you is something you'd like to know. The Hystersisters helped me ernormously , I found such support here. You are most welcome , I'm glad you found us! s
