Two Weeks To TAH

Hello:

Two weeks to go! I am really trying to get everything together here at home before my surgery.

I want to thank you all for your support and for the opportunity to discuss the fears of this surgery. I find I am reluctant to share the fact I'm having surgery with many people.....and I am not sure why. Don't want the sympathy? Don't want to discuss it? I am not really sure.

I truly appreciate having this forum to learn and share. Thank you.

But you will have all the help you need after the surgery?

I started "my journey" keeping it as private as possible. But with horrible periods, with sudden major issues, and with two failed surgeries, all that has vanished. The other day I found myself walking around the grocery store and having a discussion about the upcoming surgery (on the phone, not with an invisible friend...).

People have been very nice and as I am not emotional about it, all discussions go really well. Most people seem very cautious in their initial reaction, but as I am fine with it all, they simply wish me the best and ask if there is anything they can do.

Do you have any friends who have gone through the same?

Hi sjvl,

This is a very personal surgery, and if you prefer not to discuss it with anyone, that's fine. I am glad you have felt that you can share your experiences and thoughts here, though. Sometimes it's easier to talk about extremely personal things with total strangers than with people we want to be able to look in the eye again.

That's exactly why we're here, to support and listen and . Just knowing that our feelings are normal can be a great comfort.

Thank you, Chris. I guess I just don't want to answer all the questions and have everyone feel sorry for me, or something. None of my friends are going through this, so it is very helpful to have the opportunity to 'talk' with women who are, or have been through this.
