I had an endometrial ablation now they recommend a LAVH

Well, I had scheduled my surgery for August 6th, but I cancelled it Friday. Since I don't bleed, I have no idea what stage I am in menopause. I would know how many periods I was missing, etc. So, since I was going to have the surgery to get rid of the pain I experience every other month (or less), I decided that I will just have to learn to live with it when it happens.

The worst was in April of 2012. I was in such pain, even the hydrocodone wouldn't help with the pain. It was the worst ever! But I haven't had one like that since. I think a hysterectomy is overkill for my situation. At least I'm not bleeding!

What diagnosis are you being given for the pain? You shouldn't have to live in pain, with or without the bleeding. Sorry your in such pain!

Re: I had an endometrial ablation now they recommend a LAVH

Well I finally did it. I chickened out in August, but having spent several days in the hospital due to excruciating pain in September, which made my BP go from 120/70 to 194/93, I couldn't wait any longer.

I had a LSH on 12/12/12. I spent the night in the hospital, got home around noon the next day. It's Sunday, so I'm on day 4 of recovery. I'm still feeling sharp, burning, and stabbing pain occasionally in the right side of my abdomen, and it hurts to cough or sneeze.

I'm in good overall health, 140, 5'4", but don't exercise like I used to six months ago. I cannot believe that anyone would entertain going back to work after 4 or 5 days! I plan on following my doctors instructions to the letter! I've heard that if you overdo it, you can have serious pain issues down the road, and I don't want that to be me. My doctor told me no cleaning, cooking, heavy lifting, prolonged standing for 4 weeks. I can drive as soon as I'm not in pain anymore.

So my family is taking care of me, and I feel a little guilty, but I'll get over it. I have to heal properly, I only have one shot at doing that. Rushing back to my regular schedule too soon will only hurt me in the long run, so I sit and rest, and read for now. Will update my progress in a few days.

Yes, follow your doctors orders for recovery!!I had my surgery 8 months ago and followed the restrictions very seriously!! It was all worth it. No more pain and no long term complications except a bit of bladder leakage, but I had that before surgery too.Have a restful and uneventful recovery!!
