Questions for Dr?

Hi all,

I have my pre-op appointment on Thursday. I've written down all the questions from this site, but I was wondering: Is there anything you wish you would have asked your Dr? How about your DH or boyfriend? Is there anything they wish they would have known before surgery? Thanks,

Ava

Re: Questions for Dr?

The list of questions on the Pre-Op page pretty much covered my own personal surgery and recovery experience. The women here have great questions and hopefully someone will come along and share some of the questions they asked. MisterHysterSisters and Hysterectomy FAQ For Family and Friends is helpful for the men in our lives.

I wish you the very best with your upcoming surgery and I hope all goes well!

Re: Questions for Dr?

I used the site too for questions - i added items about:
- what type of incision
- any type of packing, drains, etc after surgery
- how long on what type of pain meds, what pain meds when @ home
- what is schedule for post op appointments
- how much weight to lift ( post op, and after each post op checkup)
- when shower, when can have bath/ soak
- questions about "how are things attached inside now" ( I'm curious)
- where to put my vivelle dot patch post op

best of luck to you!!!!!

Re: Questions for Dr?

Thanks for the ideas. I had never thought about "How are things attached inside now", but now that you've brought it up, I am curious too! I'm going to ask.

Re: Questions for Dr?

yeah i was interested as i know there are ligaments that hold up uterus & ovaries, i got them out - but had my cervix left IN as it was surrounded by a ton of blood vessels & the doc didn't want to risk cutting anything.
so i wondered how the vagina/ cervix stayed "up" and didn't, well, turn inside out during intercourse:0 ( weird i know, but i think of these things!)
