How long with the fatigue and slight pain, 7 weeks post-op

I am curious if anyone knows how long do you deal with the fatigue and slight pain. I am 7 weeks post-op from my TAH on 11/18/09. I am so looking forward to the time when I don't feel so tired at the end of the day. Does anyone out there know how long it last? I gues I really shouldn't complain since I've had no major complications and other than what I've mentioned I am doing good in my recovery. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: How long with the fatigue and slight pain, 7 weeks post-op

Can't help you just had mine Nov 20th. You must be back at work. I go back to work Monday. I am sure I will be taking a nap Monday after work. I take 2 or 3 Motrin a day. Every time I think the slight pain or fatigue is gone it returns. Sometimes it seems like my energy level is normal, but then I do something that completely wears me out. I have had no complications either.

Re: How long with the fatigue and slight pain, 7 weeks post-op

I've had people tell me it can take up to 6 months before feeling totally back to normal. I am 3 months Post-Op now and feeling pretty good. If I have a busy day I'm exhausted by the evening, and my belly feels a little tender still at times. At Christmas I had some issues with aching vaginal pain, but I think I had just totally over done it (not sleeping enough, lifting too much, very busy days etc etc) ...hang in there everyday gets better!!

GR8, we had our surgery same day! I had a davinci, everything but one ovary gone. I go back to work this wk, can't imagine. I really really have to push myself to do anything, and that is so not like me. I am really starting to wonder if hormones are out of wack. I understand it takes time, but geez! What about this surgery makes us this tired, anyone know? I hope we all get feeling better soon.

Re: How long with the fatigue and slight pain, 7 weeks post-op

I think the tiredness comes from the fact that this is a major surgery. It maybe considered a common surgery, but major nevertheless. Sometimes i feel that because it has grown to be a common surgery performed, that people do not take it as serious as they should. After I had my surgery, I felt like by 2 weeks Post-Op I was expected to just go back to my active life like nothing happened...and that was not the case. My DH as sweet as he is even acted since i was out of the hospital and up walking I should feel like my old self again...NOT!! Actually it was about 7 weeks Post-Op until I began to get my energy level back to normal, and I did not return to work until 8 weeks Post-Op.
So ladies please take care yourselves and do not push yourselves to do too much too quickly...my GYN-ONC Nurse actually told me when I was 10 weeks Post-Op that after this type of surgery the body must do ALOT of healing and it takes a long time. She said even at 10 weeks after I have alot of healing to do!
So hang in there we've all been thru alot & I'm praying for quick successful recoveries!

Thank you so much ladies and it's good to know I am not riding in my boat alone. I can't say how much your words help. I shall pace myself and just look to really feeling like my old self in 6 months.

Yes started back on Monday and by 2:00pm and 3:00pm I am exhausted. So you've been forewarned for when you go back.

Re: How long with the fatigue and slight pain, 7 weeks post-op

My TAH was Nov 23rd, I get fatigued too. Started back to work 1/2 days today, came home and slept 2 hours. But after 2 weeks I go to full time, I sure hope my energy level comes back. I am trying to walk every day to help me.

Re: How long with the fatigue and slight pain, 7 weeks post-op

I am 4 weeks post op and went back to, half days, work today. By 3pm I was completely exhausted and couldn't lift a finger.
Glad to hear it gets better and I'm not alone.

Re: How long with the fatigue and slight pain, 7 weeks post-op

Thanks for your input. I had a TVH 7 weeks ago and just started back to work this week. I'm finding today that I am sore and tired. I need to remind myself that even though I do not have an "outside" incision" that I had major surgery done "inside" and that I need to listen to my body. Thank you for the reminder!
I hope every day you are feeling better!
