Post Surgery from Sept 2 2009....Numb

I had a partial hysterectomy 3 years ago. I recently had surgery and had my ovaries and a lot of scar tissue removed. My abdomen is still numb. From the belly button to the incision it is numb. I have extreme burning also. He had to fix my bladder and part of my intestine in the process. I didnt think there would be this much pain left but WOW. When I called the doctor.....he just gave me a follow up appointment on Oct. 2. Has anyone else experienced this. If so please help me.

Thank you

Re: Post Surgery from Sept 2 2009....Numb

My surgery was July 6th this year. I still have alot of numbing starting at the belly button. My incision went up to my breasts. The numbness has gotten better in some spots so it isn't all over the abdomen. I've noticed gradually it gets better. I was told this is the nerves reconecting and it could take up to a year to go completely away. I hope that helps and makes you feel better.

Re: Post Surgery from Sept 2 2009....Numb

Today is 5 weeks post-op for me and I am still basically numb at the incision site. Doc says it's completely normal. All those nerves have been cut. I read somewhere on this site that it could take up to a year to get the feeling back. Not sure but I wouldn't worry about it. Always check with your doc if you are too concerned about anything.

Best wishes!
