Post-Op Feb 1st

I had a total Vaginal Hysterectomy because of a bladder/uterus prolapse on Feb 1st ... finally able to get off the pain meds and graduate to Ibuprophen alone .. though I do feel the pull of the stitches vaginally .. I have been using stool softeners, to help with bowel movements .. Appetite still sucks, and I am having a extremely hard time sitting still and not doing anything ( I am a naturally busy person, and think that TV will drive me nuts, there is only so much to do online, and reading after awhile puts me to sleep) .... How do you all do it ???

Re: Post-Op Feb 1st

I too am naturally a busy person so this bedrest thing is hard. I want to heal well so am doing what I am told. I have my knitting, several books I want to read along with a laptop. I have done lots of reading on this site as well. I am looking forward to a "post op" chat sometime in the future.

I napped a good part of today. Remember napping is allowing healing so it's not a bad thing to nap.My focus is still not 100% for reading unless I want to re-read the same paragraph LOL My appetite is blah but trying to drink lots of water and will take sennas tonight to help with the bowels. I sat too much yesterday so am in bed today. Perhaps find a game site online for puzzles or something that will keep your mind active. Jerry Springer is NOT my type of TV so plan on the discovery channel or something learning oriented.

Hey maybe we could all Skype or MSN chat together
Take care
Peace & blessings

Re: Post-Op Feb 1st

i also had my hysterectomy (lavh) on february 1st and am beginning to get bored but just don't feel well enough to get out of the house (or even bed for that matter) yet! i did leave the house for a short while on both friday & saturday (for necessary errands) and unfortunately it proved to be a bit too much for me as i spent most of today "paying" for it by laying in bed :-( mentally, i feel like i should be feeling better & recovering more quickly than i am but physically, i am still in a great deal of pain. i feel that i have watched just about every lifetime movie that's aired and played more games of solitaire than should be allowed...lol! any suggestions on how to lounge around and rest w/o 'obsessing' over recovery would be greatly appreciated!
hang in there!!!

I did nothing that first week except some walking around the house for brief spells. I am naturally busy but I was very sleep deprived before the surgery due to fibromyalgia so it was nice to actually be able to sleep as much as I wanted- at first. I've eased back into some easy housework at week 3 and it's exhausting.

Re: Post-Op Feb 1st

Thank You all for your input ... I do have several movies that I am going to watch on my laptop (my husband is retired and he has control of the remote ... ) But, today, unfortunately, I have to venture out with the husband for a important meeting that can't be put off .. After we get back, it will be back to my recliner for me ... I can not lay down in my bed .... I rather nap in my recliner ... I miss working though ... this is certainly NOT A VACATION
