How do I keep from getting a cold?

My son just came home from college a few hours ago on spring break. He lives on campus. He just informed me that he is sure he is getting sick with a cold and that everyone else has it... Great. Is there anything I can take or do to try to keep from getting it from him? Coughing is the last thing I want to do. I had an unexpected cough one night that was really painful.

I started antibiotics for my leaky incison yesterday, so maybe they will give me some protection.

How do I keep from getting a cold?

Hi kinaz
I would suggest you up your vitamin C. It is a fact that when your body is under stress you need more. It's one simple thing you can do to help your body be stronger.
You also need to have everyone, especially your son start washing their hands diligently. Get some anitseptic wipes and place them near the phone to use to wipe it down after it gets used. I also use them on the keyboard of the computer if you are sharing it. The mouse is a bad place for germs to collect.
You might also want to keep your distance a bit. Good luck.

How do I keep from getting a cold?

Hi there,

Vitamin C always helps, and you could also try Zicam (it worked for me). I was preparing for vacation, and started feeling like a big ol' cold was coming on, and I was told about Zicam. I went right out and bought some, and the cold never hit me... if you start taking it before you get symptoms, or just as your symptoms start to appear, it prevents or shortens the cold.

The website is www.zicam.com if you are interested

How do I keep from getting a cold?

my whole house has had a bad cold! but i haven't gotten it, yet, and i think it is because i take a really good multivitamin. i bought it at the health food store. i guess those are alot better than the stuff they sell in the grocery store. it wasn't any more expensive than the other either. the brand is "nutrition now". i haven't been a strong believer in vitamins until now, but i will say-not a sniffle! good luck to you!

How do I keep from getting a cold?

I don't know whether you have this product in the states but Vicks First Defense is a nasal spray which you use at the first sign of a cold. I use this product and I haven't had a cold develop since. If you key in the name of the product on your address bar, it will direct you to the companies web site.
