Watery discharge - 4 months post op

Hi everyone, I had a TAH (kept ovaries) 4 months ago for large fibroid & endo. Pre op I had stress incontinence (not surprising given size of fibroid & uterus) which seemed to continue pos op as well as additional leakage. I am now realizing that the additional leakage seems to be coming from my vagina - very thin, watery, no unusual odor - slightly milky sometimes? Anyone know what this is? At my last visit to gyn (6 weeks ago) I had some granulation tissue at the top of the vagina which she treated with silver nitrate but the leakage has increased since then - doesn't happen all the time, more when I get out of bed, bend over, do something a bit strenuous. However, yesterday I leaked so much it went through my panty-liner, underpants & on to my trousers - it looked like I had wet myself! If anyone has any idea I'd love to hear from you.
thanks

Re: Watery discharge - 4 months post op

I have this, but I don't have a complete vagina at the moment and instead of a cuff, I am just opened cavity there so that is why I have drainage and will have this until I can have reconstructive surgery. I would call your doctor and let them know. It could be anything, even maybe beginning of an infection. I'm not sayin you have an open cavity like me, I'm sure you don't. But your description is like my drainage, more when I get out of bed, if I've been sitting too long and stand, or am more active. I still have to wear feminine pads. But definately contact your doctor, it could be something simple they can correct.

Thanks lalwaysworry, interesting that you say that, a friend of mine who is a nurse thought maybe a tiny whole may have been left when they stitched close the vagina. I'm curious though, what is it that is draining? Where is the fluid coming from? Is it harmful in any way to have the vagina left open at the top for a given period of time?

Re: Watery discharge - 4 months post op

No, it isn't dangerous to the vagina. I've had this drainage since my surgery in July. Hopefully will get reconstruction in June so the drainage will finally stop.

I was thinking the same thing you said about a small hole in the vagina that might need a stitch. The fluid is from the pelvic cavity which has fluid that lubricates our organs there to stop friction. Obviously there is no danger in running low or out of the fluid cause I've been doing this for 7 months. LOL. My drainage sounds like yours, it is odorless, pretty much colorless. And like I said previously the more active I am or get out of bed/get up after sitting a long time the more I have and I can feel it come out. I hate that cause you kinda feel like you pee'd your pants. I just have to wear feminine pads.

Re: Watery discharge - 4 months post op

Lalwaysworry - thanks, I'll call my ob/gyn tomorrow and ask the question - hopefully it can be easily resolved. I'm wishing for June to come quickly for you so that your issue can be resolved as well - it's so stressful when you don't know what's going on and it's good to have people who understand - although it would be so much better if we were never sick and didn't have to be so understanding. I wish you good health.
