Readmitted for post-op infection

I was also readmitted to the hospital 8 days post -op for infection. I was feeling awesome and almost instantly did a 360! It was the wierdest thing in the world! It did set me back -I felt like I was back to square one but was feeling better in no time! I was sent home on 10 days of strong antibiotics after having 3 different kinds of IV meds for 2 days in the hospital. I can totally sympathize with you! I hope you feel better soon! Remeber to rest(I know easier said then done with toddlers- I have twin 4 year olds) and don't lift anything! Good Luck!

dmwaldo - Your story sounds like mine, it's encouraging to hear that you did bounce back.

The antibiotics have nasty side effects, I think they're making me feel as weak as the infection. I'm taking probiotics to help with my stomach and the hospital that I was in has an "integrative care" department that incorporates alternative therapies so their doctor sent me a packet of customized instructions. He's adding nutritional supplements to aid in healing, a homeopathic supplement for pain & inflammation and can schedule me for electro-accupuncture to deal with the pain. I ache a lot, this is more time than I expected to stay in bed and I end up sleeping half of the day. We just gave in to TV as a babysitter so my husband can work from home & turns out I've got a couple of Disney fans, my toddlers are begging for more movies rather than climbing on me.

One med makes me very dizzy so I'm not driving and it's taxing all my friends and family to help me out every day but somehow being sick I'm getting more help and sympathy than being post-op. Oh well, I'm not bitter, I'm just glad that everyone lets me sleep so much!

Just wanted to say, hope you are feeling better and the drugs start kicking the infection very soon.
