The first couple of weeks, I ate frequent healthy snacks instead of regular meals. This worked better for me because I got full quickly. Foods that tasted especially good to me included fresh fruit, yogurt, peanut butter with whole grain toast and canned lentil soup.

If you're noticing personality changes, this could be a sign that something's beginning to go wrong physically and/or psychologically. Does she usually live alone?

Once you're recovered from surgery, you may want to start a conversation with her about maybe going to see her doc for an assessment. You may also want to have a conversation about what happens when she can no longer live on her own without any help.

My siblings and I got blindsided because we didn't realize what was going on with Mom until she had a fall and was hospitalized. She didn't break any bones - but she *was* diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson's. Suddenly the doctors were telling us that she couldn't live on her own anymore and we had to figure out what to do. It was a conversation we should have started having much earlier.

I love my mother it's just that I'm scared that she's not telling me her real illnesses I just wanna make sure she is 💯 I do anything & everything for my mom cause I know I only have one

Re: 48hrs post hysterectomy: Is this normal?

Maybe don't use the word dementia. The fear of Alzheimer's gets stronger as we age. Instead say something like when I feel better what do you think about seeing your doctor to find out why you are not yourself. You know there are over a 100s treatable illnesses that can cause personality changes (or whatever you want to call the problem) if caught early enough.

As for talking to her about arrangements and wishes later on, first point out that your surgery made you aware of how little preparations you had made if something happened to you during surgery. You were wondering what are her wishes. Find a way to ask if she has a will and medical directive or at least what kind of care and when not to. Maybe you can talk about your thoughts and then get her's.
