Going to castle in 7 hours - eeek!

Well, we're really on the countdown now! Naturally, my period started *again* this morning, so I'm having horrible cramps and feeling crummy. Reminds me of why I should be thrilled to be so close to surgery! LOL

I found out why they don't want you to wear makeup (and my pre-op nurse said mascara is a no-no, but the rest is okay as long as it's light). If, while you're out, any mascara or other particles of makeup get in your eye it can scratch your cornea.

My doctor doesn't want to put me on the morphine drip because I've have trouble with nausea after surgery before. He wants to give me a shot of demerol every 3 hours. That doesn't sound really good to me, but I didn't really think about it till later. Should I talk to the anesthesiologist about other options? I really, really want a drip, but I don't want to puke in recovery.

I'm all packed and ready to go, just having trouble calming down, so here I ramble on. I can't wait to be on the other side and write about how well it all went!

Thanks so much, sisters!!

(((HUGS)))

Hi Bunny,

Talk with your anesthesiologist, he can give you medication to prevent nausea.

Keep the post-op tips in mind, they're so important for your recovery. Best wishes to you!

Take care,

Carolyn

I'm the same regarding the puking and they have assured me there are alternatives to morphine that are just as good (didn't say what though!) and anti-nausea stuff is available - be sure you mention it before they put you under!!

All the very best of luck

Well, I'm home!

As it turns out, they did put me on a morphine drip and I did throw up quite a bit (at least it seemed like quite a bit to me). I had to push for them to give me zofran (sp?), which was a tip I got on this site. But after that, I was much better.

I've been home for about 7 hours and doing very well! It's good to be on the other side - the waiting really IS the hardest part!

Thanks to all my sisters for the moral support!!
