Surgery Leg Boots Tips

Hello Ladies-

I just had a TAH/BSO (one ovary only) on Tuesday- and wanted to share something I did not read ahead of time- it may very well be on this site somewhere, but I missed it- anyway . . .

When I returned to my room after the surgery I was having a hot flash- I had a few the first day- my one ovary must have been still "under"- went away after that. I ended up having the nurse take the pressure boots off my legs because I was SO hot. When the night nurse put them back on for me, I explained I had them off due to heat stroke, she asked if they had pushed the "Cooling Button" on the base of the unit- I said I didn't know. She turned it on, and I was much more comfortable.

One other tip on the boots- due to the pain meds and sensative skin, my legs felt very itchy under them- so in the middle of the night I asked the nurse if they had anything that could go between my legs and the boots. She looked at me like I was weird and said no- I asked her if she could get me a couple of extra pillow cases- she did- and we put the pillow cases around my legs, then put the boots back on, and I was much more comfortable.

All the best to you Ladies in Waiting- I'm five days out and feeling WAY better than I expected to!

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

I'm glad that you're home and doing well, and wanted to thank you for posting your hint about the leg boots. I didn't have them (I had the stockings instead) and didn't know that they had a temperature control. I'm glad that your night nurse thought about that, and also, that you were able to get relief from the itchiness.

I hope that the rest of your recovery will go well - please be sure to get plenty of .
