How will I know?

Today is my 5 week mark. I had a post-op visit with doctor at 2 weeks. At the time, she told me everything was healing nicely inside and out (she did a pelvic exam). She told me to expect some changes in my incision (possible hardness, etc.) and to continue with lifting restrictions....then she said I didn't need to come back for another year. I was so surprised, not to mention still quite medicated, that I didn't think to ask any questions. After looking at the Checkpoints for weeks 5-6 and the list of questions to ask at 6 weeks, I'm wondering how will I know the answers? I know, you're thinking, "Just call your doctor" but trying to get a call back is infuriating!!! I love my doctor but her staff is just the worst - absolutely nooooo sense of urgency/helpfulness regarding phone calls. Should I just proceed with anything that feels okay? Any ideas?

How will I know?

You had your pelvic at your 2 week appointment!? My doc didn't even consider it, saying, 'you don't need to go through that, you have that in four weeks! you look and are doing great' and let me go. I have never heard of a post hysterectomy patient not getting a six week check up and all clear for work. Very bizarre!

How will I know?

I agree with Lisanne2, I would make another appointment. It is definitely better to be safe.

I think you all are right - I should just make another appointment. I guess I should have figured that out for myself, huh? I think my brain is just a little fuzzy right now
