Re: Oh man in such horrible pain!

Everyone is talking about Colace, I was never given that. They gave me two suppositorys, and two stool softners. When I came home I got Milk of Magnisea, and gas x. Both have helped me some. But my inscision is soooo painful! I have been taking my tylonal 3 with regular tylonal to try to help. But it is not working out so well. I managed to have a bm earlier, and boy it hurt. It seems like every hour is different. Everyday is different, every minute I feel different.

Re: Oh man in such horrible pain!

You don't want to add more tylenol with the tylenol 3's. You need to call your dr and ask for something else. I was released with hydrocodone 10's and ibu 800. I had a lavh 3 weeks ago and due to complications I'm still regularly taking meds which is now oxycodone 5' s every 4 hours. I hope you feel better hun and get proper pain management.

Re: Oh man in such horrible pain!

Eat kiwifruit if you can get them. Very good for the bowels! 2 a day.

I do feel so sorry for you. It is painful in every way at the beginning -- gas, surgical pain, BMs, peeing, but it will get steadily better - truly!

Re: Oh man in such horrible pain!

I am going to call my doctor today. Yesterday it was not her who released me from the hospital. It was a stand in. So, that other doc did not know my case. I think calling today will help. I am know successfully have bm! YEAH!
It cracks me up that when I have a bm I come out of the bathroom and tell my husband and he cheers for me! Then I laugh and my belly hurts! Poor guy, trying so hard not to laugh at some of my stuff going on but I guess it really is funny when I look back at it!

Re: Oh man in such horrible pain!

Had my TAH on November 16th and didn't have a bm for a week. Was told to take iron because I'm anemic and was also taking percocet with a couple of advil. Stopped both the percocet and iron because they both make you constipated and started taking a stool softener twice a day and using citrucel twice a day with great results.

Re: Oh man in such horrible pain!

Gas-X was a great help for me. If your doctor has cleared you for walking, several mini-walks per day can also help move things along. Walk only as far as you feel okay. Even just walking around the house might help.

Re: Oh man in such horrible pain!

I had what was thought was gas because no BM for days after release. My doc suggested all the norm and continued to increase my pain meds for four days. Then I stopped urinating and they (ER) discovered that was the problem all along. As soon as my bladder was drained I passed gas and had BM. Please be sure that you are emptying your bladder and this is not the root of your problem. I'm 4 weeks out tomorrow and can honestly say it gets better. Actually every day is a bit better. Just a bit but it's progress!

Oh man in such horrible pain!

TAH-BSO 11/16/11 PAin was severe at first. All I took was Ibuprofen. But I walked a lot to keep gas pain at bay. The good news is that each day the pain decreased. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow and I feel a bit stronger every day. Please don't lose hope. It does get better. If pain continues tell your Dr. But if no complications, this too shall pass.
