tiny update

Well just a tiny update. I've taken advice from some of the knowledgable women here and I have....

contacted my husbands benefit person at his employer. She said that there is an employee advocacy avenue to follow, but must wait to hear what the appeal does.

sent an iquiry email to my state insurance department giving them the general story and asking what my options are, if any, and what I should do.

I plan this morning to go to the dept. of health, as the appeal dept. woman at my insurance said was a "higher up" avenue to go to as well.

my appeal is submitted, although my dr. office had to get my entire file ready to send, so I'm not sure it went out yet. Luckily, me, the dr. office and our insurance are all within 15 mi. of each other...actually the dr. office and insurance are only about 5 mi. away, so it's all local, meaning it won't take long to get there.

on my own, I have begun to keep a day by day journal since Fri. documenting my every day occurences (sp?). maybe they can see that it is not normal to have a person have "daily" cramps and pain, which is what has become for me. if someone came to me and said they have cramps and pain *every* day, I would think it ISN'T normal.

somehow I feel my efforts are going to be fruitless. do they think people would go to these lengths if they didn't think it was the best route?

well, anyway, that's how I am dealing with this so far. It hurts to be made to feel like you are not worth the money to the insurance. not worthy of a surgery that will bring you relief.

****just got a phone call my gyn. office. they are faxing an order to a local medical center for me to go get a cbc and thyroid test done. i haven't had one since 2002 and they said they are getting my file ready to send to my insurance and they felt this might help as well to have recent tests. wow. this makes me really feel good about the dr. that they are really trying to help me. but on the downside, i am so negative right now, it probably won't show anything to help in my favor.

thanks i gotta go and get this done NOW.

Erica, this sounds very positive to me.

Very best luck on getting the appeal reversed- it happens in a good percentage of cases.
