Back To Work... TOMORROW

Hello Everyone,

I haven't been on in a few days, just thought I would check in. I'm 8 wks today and I go back to work tomorrow, full force. I believe I'm ready, my family would like for me to stay off but I can't, bills must be paid!!! I'm a little nervous about being on 12 hour shifts and being on my feet all day but I work with some great people that will be understanding to my needs.

So far everything is great, recovering well. The first 2 1/2 weeks were the hardest. My only thought at this point is..... Why did I wait 5 years to do this? I haven't felt this good in years!

Hope all my fellow 8 weekers are doing well, hang in there!

Back to work

Hi, Denise!

We have the same date. I went back to work last Thursday. It's a part-time 1/2 day job. What I noticed is that I was distracted by the work and didn't pay as much attention to my body. I moved quicker and did more bending than usual. I didn't feel pain or anything, but by the end of the afternoon I felt like a barrel, swollen pretty tight. It didn't last. The next day I was fine again. Just interesting how my body reacted to different activity.

I've been feeling great for the most part. It's pretty exciting to have energy again and to do normal things.

Sending best wishes for a successful first day back to work!

Cinderellen

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask for a break if and when you need one....

I was soo tired when I first went back...thank goodness I had an understanding boss....and even for as long as it's been, he still makes sure I'm doing okay and won't let me lift overly heavy stuff!

Back To Work... TOMORROW

Hey, Denise......Another nurse! When I first returned, was expecting to feel less than adequate if I didn't hit the tarmac, running. When I restricted myself from any lifting, pushing, or pulling, it was reassuring that all my coworkers looked out for me, until I was comfortable. Just do not be too proud to ask for help! Just rolling those Hill-Rom beds across a room can be your undoing right now........

I got through those chaotic hospital shifts, but had to be a full-fledged Princess once I got back home..........make this clear to your family. The only way I could get through those shifts for the 1st couple of weeks....and, did so quite nicely........was because I got total rest when not at the hospital.

Congratulations on your first step back into your "regular" life!!!!! .........Deb

Back To Work... TOMORROW

Just to let everyone how it went.....

Well, I made it!! Went to work @ 6:3oam and got home @8pm. I started getting pretty tired around 5pm (just about the time all our inductions start to deliver), No pain. Took a shower when I got home, went to bed about 10pm and the only thing I remember is turning to my right side then the alarm went off and I woke up on my right side!! Slept hard. Luckily I don't have to go back until the 28th.
