Laparoscopic hyst scheduled after Lupron

Hi Everyone...and best wishes to all having or have had a Hysterectomy! My surgery is not until May 13th. My Dr. has ordered me to have Lupron injections prior to surgery to reduce the size of my uterus. I do feel much better w/ the Lupron, a lot less discomfort Has anyone had a, or having a Laparscopic proceedure like me? Are you taking anything like Lupron? And not knowing what to expect for pain after the proceedure is freaking me out to.

Laparoscopic hyst scheduled after Lupron

Hi Ct_suburb,

I did (3) months of lupron shots prior to my lap hyst. It did help to ease my pelvic pressure and my fibroids did shrink. Also, lupron can help to bring up the blood count before surgery since it helps to temporarily stop periods.

My laparoscopic hyst is still one of the best things I ever did for my long term health. It gave me back my quality of life.

Sending best wishes~

Mary

Laparoscopic hyst scheduled after Lupron

Hi ct_suburb. I just had my LAVH on 2/20. I am so happy that I had it done. Today's it's 4 weeks and Monday was the first day that I felt with it enough to really be excited about the fact that I no longer have to worry about taking birth control and all sorts of narcotics to ease my pains. Hurray!

I was in pain for about the first week. The next two weeks it was more discomfort than pain. By the 3rd week I was starting to feel "normal." But you have to remember that everyone is different. You have to listen to your body. Your dr. should give you pain meds to help out. One thing my doc did that I believe has been extremely helpful is that he had me do a bowel prep (magnesium citrate) the night before. And then he had me start stool softeners as soon as my surgery was over. I believe this has helped me not be constipated at all. Hope your surgery goes well!

Thanks Clori. I have read about the constipation, and already suffering from IBS, you can be sure I will be "CLEANSING" the day before. Did you go home the next day? My Dr. says that if everything goes well, I will be going home the very next morning.

ct_suburb- Yep, I went in Wed. AM and was home by 11:45 AM Thursday. One of the worst parts of this whole thing for me was the worrying beforehand so I understand when you say that "NOT KNOWING" is the hardest thing.

Hi!
I had an LAVH on Jan 23, and although I thought i would be perfectly fine in 3 weeks (I have a wonder woman complex), it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But take my word...make sure you have something like phazyme or gas x at home! I think the gas pains were worse than the surgery pains!!!
I am in a CT suburb, too!
