Itching all over after hysterectomy

I know that in the surgery center, the morphine was the cause for the itching like a junky, lol, but, now that I'm home, I'm still itchy. Not bad just annoying. Is anyone else doing this? I'm not allergic to any of the meds, so I'm not afraid of that. What are you doing for it?

If you are on pain meds they can cause itching. Hydrocodone (sp?) one of the side effects is itching. I found this out from a surgery i had last yr. was starting to feel like i had bugs lol.

For anyone who is having the itching issues, contact your doctor and find out if it is alright to take Benadryl to ease the symptoms. I had some itching from the percocet that I was given at the hospital (I did not use morphine at the hospital), and the nurse at the hospital offered me Benadryl for it, but it wasn't that bad, so I turned it down.

Re: Itching all over

I had itching in the hospital after being on morphine and the nurse gave me an anti-histamine and by the next day it was so much better. Mind you I'd stopped the morphine by then too.
