does everyone feels this good after a LAVH?

Ok, this is a really strange question, but had to ask if there are others out there......

I had my LAVH last week (6 days post op) and I feel absolutely 'normal' other than what I would compare to as a bad menstrual cramp (probably cuz my bowels are still sleeping a bit).

My external stitches dissolved at around day 3-4 and I feel great! does anyone else feel like this or did I just stress myself out so much beforehand that this is easier than I thought?

Hi Army Wife,

After posting my thread I realized that I shouldn't count my blessings too soon. I should know by now that I take one step forward and four backwards, so we shall see what tomorrow brings!

Hope you feel better soon,,,,,,,,,

does everyone feels this good after a LAVH?

Hi Kat,
I feel real good too - 90% normal, just easily tired. It's scary because I don't want to jinx it by shouting from the rooftop and let something horrible happen. Many others are going though so much pain that it almost does not seem right to post this.

Hi Ponchito,

Have you ever typed or said something and then wish you could take it back? Well, that's kinda how I feel right now about my comment. I feel bad for everyone who is not feeling well right now and I shouldn't have asked my question - and of course, I jinxed myself because I woke up with the same gas pains that I had last week and I think my bowels have stopped working again.

To all the ladies that I may have upset or offended, I am truly, truly sorry. That certainly was not my intent and I wish everyone the very best.

Hi Kat,
I haven't had as smooth of a road, but I don't think you need to apologize and I also think it is very important for those that feel good to let everyone know. Support forums tend to be a bit stilted because the people that need support the most are the one that feel the worst. Therefore most of the posts come from worst case scenarios.

There are a lot of ladies looking through these threads that need to know not everyone feels like death for months. I think if all I had had to deal with was the TVH, I'd be fine as frogs hair, but I have other medical issues and had posterior repairs that slowed things down. We are all different and there should be no guilt over feeling good.

If anyone was offended by your post, they need to think about how much extra energy they are wasting by being bitter. I, for one, and happy that someone is feeling good and bounced back easily!

Enjoy it!

does everyone feels this good after a LAVH?

It's been one week today for me and I'm having kind of an up and down experience. Yesterday I had a check-back with the surgeon to look at my incisions from the laprascope and they're all healing nicely. My hubbie and I then went to the local library to pick up some books and then headed home. Felt great. Then after dinner I went with him to the grocery store and pointed while he lifted! Still felt great, not wiped out, a little sore. Then this a.m. I felt wiped out! Now I'm moody, a little weepy, no energy. I did have bso but I was already in meno and on hormones, so I was hoping I would avoid any upsets - hard to say what's causing the emotional stuff. Probably partly boredom. Also, yesterday I was able to put on my jeans, which gave me a lift but the waistband ended up irritating one of the incisions so today I'm back in sweats, which makes me feel "sluggy". Apart from that, really no complaints - bowels working, peeing just fine. Oh, I told the dr. that at times it still felt like my bladder was spasming and he said that's normal, could last on and off for 3 months. Good to know when I don't know what's "normal" and what's not.

does everyone feels this good after a LAVH?

Wendy - thanks for your comments. I too have felt a bit guilty about my easy recovery. I've been back to work for 3 weeks, and other than a lot of soreness at first, it has been relatively pain free. The more I do, the more energy I have. I know that I am very lucky and I count my blessings every day.

When i started reading this board before my surgery I was VERY scared because I saw so many people say that they were still in pain and having all sorts of complications for months, and didn't go back to work for 6 to 8 weeks.

This really scared me because I WANTED to go back to work as fast as possible and told my boss (foolishly) that i would only be out for 1-1/2 to 2 weeks, even though i kept reading about how the recovery takes a lot longer than that. I didn't get too much information on the board that backed up my hope for a short recovery.

I think you are right - we don't hear from the women who are doing well because they don't need as much support. But I wish more would post because that would give the pre-surgery ladies-in-waiting more hope for a speedy recovery. Does that make sense?

I hope that no one takes offense, and that it IS helpful for a lot of people to hear the good news.

And no matter how good (or bad) we are all feeling physically - this group is still strongly needed for emotional support. This whole process would have been a nightmare without this group of wonderful women.

Thanks to everyone!!

does everyone feels this good after a LAVH?

Hi!

Whew, I am glad that others feel the way I do. I remember reading some of these posts and being more scared than ever before surgery. I'm glad nobody took my post the wrong way.

I agree that everyone is different and I am truly thankful that I didn't have any major issues before surgery unlike some sisters on here. I still get tired but I think I had myself so worked up before surgery that I pictured me sprawled out on my bed for weeks in so much agony - which is far from how I feel.

Still having trouble with BM but hey, it sure beats the constant bleeding that I had suffered for before this surgery!

I'm with most of you. I feel great as well. And dang it, I think people should know! I spend so much time worrying about how I was going to get through this, when it has been my experince that this is no worse than my worst cramps were.
I had a TAH, so there is the incision- but even that isn't bad. I can only hope that everyone who is facing this surgery does as well with it as I have.
