One week post hysterectomy: Steri strips

hello I am one week post op and had the DiVinchi I have 4 little holes from the steri strips, which the darn things are still stuck on! They don't want to leave. The dr. Said the bandages on top I could take off but to let the steri strips fall off on their own. I have been showering every day and using soap on them... I could do the band-aid commercial. "Stuck on band-aid ..."
I also can not get the darn adhesive off of me without scraping it with my nails. Alcohol and coconut oil did not work. Am I the only one with very "stick well" skin?

Re: Steri strips

Hello I did not have sterile strips with my TVH, but had them with my laproscopic gallbladder removal and the sterile strips fell off in their own after about 10-12 days. You should just leave them on until they fall off because they really hold the poke holes closed. I found I was allergic to them when a blister formed under one so I took the others off if they did not already come off on their own. I hope this helps. Kim

I have the same issue. I am a nurse as well. Just be patient they will come off. Don't rub or scrub.

One week post hysterectomy: Steri strips

My doctor told me yesterday (6days post op) that I could take them off in the shower and clean them up cause the skin would already be closed and they aren't doing good anymore.

Re: One week post hysterectomy: Steri strips

My Dr told me they'll fall off in 2 wks and trust me. I can't wait! I have them all the way across my abdomen due to a very large incision. The edges are coming off so we are getting closer
