dVH/RALH: Vaginal hysterectomy: Do I need perineal cold packs?

I'll be getting a davinci hysterectomy but my uterus will be taken out through my vagina. Is this going to make my perineal area sore like it can with a completely vaginal hysterectomy?

I had the LAVH which also includes vaginal delivery and I was just fine. I don't remember any vaginal pain or problems at all. How you feel vaginally will depend on exactly how much work your doctor does vaginally along with your anatomy. I wouldn't spend money without checking with your doctor. You could also improvise by making cold packs using ziplock bags and a bit of alcohol water if you need to later. There are recipes online.
