Lifting Restrictions Upon Returning to Work.

Hello All

I will be returning to work 8 weeks after my TAH SBO. My work at times involves lifting equipment that is over 50 lbs. I have read where ladies have experienced bleeding 3 motnhs after from doing heavy work.

How long after this surgery should you refrain from lifting heavy things?

Hope you are all recovering well,

Paulette

Lifting Restrictions Upon Returning to Work.

Hi Paulette
This is something you really need to ask your dr so s/he can answer it specifically for you. There are women who return to jobs where they do heavy lifting. Usually you need to rebuild your core strength so you don't risk injuring yourself. I'm sure you know how to lift since this is involved with your job, but there can be dangers to lifting after a hyst.

You don't want to risk a prolapse, but there are many factors that come together to determine how high your risk is. Some of them involve hereditary factors, and a history of vaginal births or other damage to the pelvic floor. Everyone is different. I know you need to work back into heavy lifting gradually. You have been resting and not using those muscles for several weeks now. Your dr should be able to talk to you about what your specific risks would be. I wish you well. Let us know how you do.
