granulation ongoing

I am 6 months post surgery, TAH, removed cervix, bladder and bowel repair and I have had 8 silver nitrate treatments for granulation tissue. I have a consistent discharge, which smells bad...and tomorrow I am finally going back to the surgeon...BUT what is he likely to do...how do they fix persistent granulation tissue???
I would dearly like to put all this behind me and I can't because each day I am reminded of it. So much for throwing away your sanitary requirements!!!
Has anyone had any other treatment other than the silver nitrate????

I do not have granulation issues, but I do have a cuff that will not heal. New dr said not sewn right,go back 13 week ck up dr will see if healed or need repair surgery. I hope not. I am still not released for baths or sex yet. This is no fun at all. Cuff pain is the worse pain I have felt. Don't you think? Do you have alot of pain? Sometimes I feel like someone shoved a barbed wire ball in me. From what I read sometimes I think those silver nitrate treatments are just a band aid fix and more pain than they are worth. I hope you find a answer soon.

Today is a horrible day. Tomorrow is my daughter's graduation and everything is going wrong. Hot water heater went on Monday and they can't seem to attach the new one. Old house are the worst. Anyway just had my TAH 7 weeks ago and I am having 100 people here on Saturday all this without hot water. Yes only cold showers. When I went for my 6 week check up he did not release me for sex either. He said I was healed but wanted strengh inthe cuff, I am worried that I have granulation. I heard the silver nitrate hurts and does not always work. My biggest fear is more surgery. If I have to have more surgery I don't know what I will do. I don't think I can take that I rather never have sex again. I should have never done this. I have made many many many mistakes in my life this was the biggest. Sorry for venting.

Hi Red48!

I had persistent granulation tissue which was first diagnosed around 7 months post-op. There was so much of it that silver nitrate alone wasn't going to be enough to take care of the problem. So, I had to have a minor surgical procedure in my doctor's office so he could remove the excess tissue.

The worst part about the surgery for me was when he had to numb the vaginal cuff. The first shot was definitely the worst. After it was numb he proceeded to cut away the excess tissue and then applied another treatment of silver nitrate. Intercourse was off limits while the area healed, and when I went back for rechecks, it required a bit more silver nitrate. Finally I healed and could get on with life!

My doctor used was is known as LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) so if you want, you can do a Google search and learn more about it. It didn't take very long start to finish. I did go straight to bed when I got home from having it done but by the next day I was easing back into my normal routine.

I hope soon this will all be behind you. Let us know how your appointment goes, okay?

I have been having granulation issues as well it started
two weeks post op and still going on I have had three silver nitrate treatments with no success, I am
3 months post op and would really like to get this over

I've just been to the doctor and he removed what he described as a polyp on a stalk...he showed it to me...looked like any lump of tissue. And once again I got the whole silver nitrate treatment. I'm going back in a month and I'm on the surgical waiting list in case it doesn't go away. I'm in NZ so I'm looking at waiting another 3 months to be seen (curse the health system).
He says I can have sex...good on him...I'm sure having some smelly leaky discharge is just the thing to make you feel sexy! NOT.
anyway, fingers crossed its sorted now, although I suspect it won't be.
dammit.
Hope everyone else is ok.
