Phantom period pain!!!!

Hi Ladies,

Has anyone else experienced phantom period pains????.

I started to get the horrible familiar feeling in my stomach and lower back and was a bit concerned so i phoned my local gp and told him what was going on and he believes that it is phantom period pain.

He explained it with the story of a person who had to have a finger amputated. That finger even though it is long gone can still get itches, pain, you can feel it if you jam your fresh air finger in a door....realllyyyy queer stuff.

He said it is the same for us having our uterus etc surgically removed. Because it has been done surgically the body still believes it is there.

Are we forever doomed to be burdoned with those infernal pains.....

Phantom period pain!!!!

I had a feeling that felt like uterine cramps in the first week after my surgery, at the time I would have been ovulating. Yes, it is a bizarre feeling because mentally you know that it can't be that.

Phantom period pain!!!!

Lil' old me.

in there. I had them for a few months after my hyster too. I had a tah/bso so I knew it was definitely phantom pains.

But, they did go away with time. I do get cravings now and then too, but it is do able.

Phantom period pain!!!!

Hey there, I am at 11 weeks post op and have ovaries and cervix. I had huge fibroids removed with uterus (sp?) I was getting sick at regular intervals, like every two weeks, and finally realized it was ovulation and like when I used to get a cyst on my ovaries. Seems they are working better now and active and I notice it more due to the surgery etc. Oh boy....

Phantom period pain!!!!

Hi - YES! I get my phantom period every month! PMS, zits, you name it. But - the best part of all -- no tampons, pads, etc. This was the best thing I ever did!

Phantom period pain!!!!

I'm 19 days post op and last week I started having sharp twinges of pain on my right side, like when I was ovulating. I had my cervix, uterus, tubes and ovaries removed. It must be phantom pain. I just hope it eventually stops. So, no, you are not alone.

Phantom period pain!!!!

Hi I am six weeks out and have the same pains. Although they are not as bad as the real thing. I have gained 15 pounds since my hyster, thanks to the chocolate cravings!

Hiya Tatie,
Its my 8mth anniversary today and my inision is still quite tender and even my belly up to my navel still hurts when bumped or my little one gives me a slap to get my attention.
I have been told it can take upto 12 months to 2 yrs to get back to absolutely pain free.

I have a lot of scar tissue and my belly and incision are still quite numb but it is slowly coming back...so hang in there and give your body time....
