depressed over belly
I am so depressed today. My stomach is sooooooooo ugly!!
I have a huge roll of fat below my belly button. It is just above my pubic bone. I can put on regular pants but I have a hugh roll of fat bulging out below the waitband.
I don't even want to think about my DH seeing me naked or even having sex. Me on top with my big roll of fat, yuck!!!!!!!
I just wanted to vent. I know I should be greatful that it turned out not to be cancer. I really am greatful that I am here and healthy but I am still sef concious

I have the same thing. I keep hoping it will go down, as everyone says. Some have said it can take months, so I am trying to be patient. I had lost a lot of weight before my surgery so this is very discouraging to me. Just know that you are not alone and hang in there!

Check my surgery date. I still have it. I was talking to someone at work Friday, her mother is 2 years older than I am, had a hysterectomy in August - it took about 3-4 months for the swollen belly to go away. So...we have no choice but to grin and bear it, and just wait it out.

depressed over belly
At two months post op, I have a bit more belly than I did before and I was starting to get down about it too. I just spent this past weekend dancing naked around a fire with about 200 other people - and having so many of them tell me how beautiful I was, well, that sure mitigated any self doubt I was having

I am 3 months post op and I STILL have the belly! sometimes it's smaller and other times it swells. It's normal part of the healing.

I was in my best shape ever before my surgery and had a very minimal tummy... this post-surgical addition to my girth is not making me happy either.
And....I am heading to the mountains in just two weeks... perhaps I can get some naked fire dancing done! How awesome! You ladies are wonderful!

some helpful news for you...
Hey there, I had my surgery in Jan and I was sad about the belly too...even my surgeon said, Oh, yeah, sometimes that's permanent....What?!! I think he gives lousy advice and has worried me needlessly...he also only prescribes estrogen made from horse pee, which made me feel psychotic! ( I am now on natural stuff and much better)
Well, my family doctor who is wonderful and who I get my natural hormones from, said if I do abdominal massage, lower back stretches, the hard scar tissue in that area will slowly stretch and flatten out.
You should all know too, it is NOT fat, it is where they tie most everything up in there and it forms a hard roll of scarring/water pocket. We also hold in a lot of water retention for weeks after surgery. I don't know if it is the anesthesia/combo of chemicals holding it in or what! I literally had pockets of water all over my body for weeks and it looked gross! Drink lots of water, eat low sodium and I promise you will see a difference. You are all pretty new to recovery, so give this some time. Just focus on your feeling better for now.
The massages and stretching has done wonders, it HAS FLATTENED a lot since January and it helped with the pain of the tight scars too. Going to the bathroom would hurt me, now it doesn't. But, let your body heal for a good 6 weeks before stretching. It took me 9 weeks to finally feel normal and for the roll to start flattening. You will get there, just give it time - I am a very impatient person, so I know how frustrating it is. Hang in there!

Thanks for the encouragement. I know I am being impatient. When you do abdominal massage are you rubbing your stomach with the palms of your hand and in circles? If not could you please let me know how to do abdominal massage? Thanks
