Do they use a mesh sling with hystos?

Does anyone know? I sure hope not. I forgot to ask my doctor is they use Mesh slings with hysterectomies? I've heard so many bad things.

It all depends on whether you need a sling or not. If you aren't having bladder issues, chances are there will be no need for one. Of course it is something you need to discuss with your doctor. Also, though some have had trouble with mesh, many do not. Try not to worry over something that is likely not going to happen.

As Elsie said, they only use a mesh sling if you *need* a mesh sling. My TAH was slingless. :-)

Mine will be slingless too. I asked because at first my dr was talking about using a pig skin mesh but because I don't leak urine (I do have the opposite problem where I have to strain to start to go no matter how bad I have to go) he wont need it after all. In the meantime of him deciding this I requested my allergist test me for pig allergy and im good to go but at pre op dr said he doesn't see needing any sling or support.

Mine was slingless as well... I do however have hernia patches made from pig skin.
