Dr. Appt Today - Ovary Issue?

Went to my OB today to discuss hyster options. She said that she really believes that the ablation worked because my uterus seems to be of normal size and shape (as per a pelvic exam). My cramping also doesn't seem to be from the uterus and I haven't had a period since October.

She did say that having cramping for 5 or so weeks straight is NOT normal.

1. She gave me Demerol and phenergan to take at bed time for the pain. She said it'll give my body a break from the pain and let me get some true sleep. She said that lack of sleep, stress, and anxiety is probably causing the 8 day headache that I have.

2. She sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound. She wants to see what there is to see. (And hopefully learn what's going on) They did a vaginal US. It was completely pain free until she started poking my right ovary! OMG I wanted to vomit. It hurt so bad I saw stars. My husband was with me the whole time and he even said it seemed like she spent more time taking pictures and documenting that right ovary area than she did total every where else.

Hopefully I will hear from the doctor tomorrow and see where we are.

I told my husband that I know it sounds bad but in some ways I PRAY they found something. Because then we have a cause. And from there we can form a plan to fix it. It would mean that there is an explanation for this crap!

Re: Dr. Appt Today - Ovary Issue?

Hey there
I had an ablation 3 years ago, stopped my periods, but boy oh boy did the pain and cramping just get worse and worse . I also have a small fibroid, a right ovarian cyst, endometrios (a few spots as my doctor has said), and a cervix that has closed up due to previous lletz treatment for abnormal cells. I would say hand on heart that my pains started with that ablation, and all the other problems that I have. Of course according to the doctors I have seen over the years my pain couldnt be due to these, however my last doctor actually listened to me, and I am now scheduled for my operation tomorrow to get rid of the lot, and I so wish that I had just had that to begin with!!! I would not recommend the ablation to anyone personally!!

Hope you get some answers, I know what that is like, and I am thinking of you

Re: Dr. Appt Today - Ovary Issue?

My doc called me this afternoon. She sai that there is a 1.3 cm cyst on my right ovary and a 4mm cyst on my left ovary. Uterus and tubes and all else looked normal and healthy. She said that the cysts I have are normal and come and go in most women. She said that these cysts shouldn't be the cause of the constant pain. She did say that it's very likely that I have endometriosis. Especially based on my hi sorry and family history. She said that she would suggest doing the hysterectomy. She would do it laparoscopic with vaginal assist and take everything. And look for and clean up any other "messes" she might find. She also said she would start me on estrogen only hormone replacement (based on family history of breast cancer from hormone therapy). And over the next 18 years slowly decrease the dosage till I hit 50.

She told me that again, 5weeks of straight pain, whether it's bad pain or not, is not normal. She said to talk to my husband and when in ready to call and set a date.

I'm going to call in the morning and get some dates.

Why not just remove the cysts? It could be done.

Re: Dr. Appt Today - Ovary Issue?

She says the cysts I have shouldn't be causing the pain I'm having. Based only history and family history she suggests that I have the hysterectomy done. I agree. My mom and grandmother were both the same age as me when they had theirs done. I'm at the point where I physically, emotionally, and especially financially can't keep trying different things and hoping they might work.
