Using a laptop in bed post op

Okay, so I'm an internet author as well as a gamer etc. I pretty much live on line.

after my surgery when I get home from hospital, I'm telling readers of a story I'm in the middle of writing that I may be able to start writing more chapters a week to week and a half after being home.

Does this seem right? I'll keep the lappy on my bed so I don't have to stretch to reach it. I'd move down to the couch in the living room but my bed and bathroom is upstairs two levels :/

What is a realistic goal?

Re: Using a laptop in bed post op

I've had my laptop me to me since day two post op. I always have a pillow onto lap do cats don't jump on me. I pop the laptop on top of pillow while propped up and type away. No issues but good idea about keeping it handy so you don't have to stretch to get it. I usually leave on coffee table next to me and put back on lap after getting up. I've also watched movies and numerous tv shows on laptop post op.

I used my laptop day 1 in hospital. You could always get one of those lap trays that kids use for meals and use that in your bed with your laptop. Its coming up soon sister! Good Luck!

Re: Using a laptop in bed post op

I don't think that using the laptop will be an issue, but having the ability to concentrate on what you are writing so you don't end up thinking something in your head, not typing it, but continuing that thought, to where your readers are confused because they missed the part that was in your head. Or writing the same thought over again because you don't realize you already wrote it. That seems like it would be the bigger issue. How much proof reading and correcting do you want to do and your medications will be the deciding factor I think. But I think that a week and a half to two weeks is a good timeline to tell them.

Re: Using a laptop in bed post op

You should be able to use your laptop, etc. from bed or even sitting up. It may be more of an energy issue... you will be very exhausted after your surgery. Writing and working take more energy than you realize, even from bed. You may not be able to concentrate for long time either. I would suggest just to do things in moderation, and take lots of breaks.

Re: Using a laptop in bed post op

I just may have to do it in moderation. When I write, I feel the emotions and such and yes, I have wept while writing sad scenes, laughed uproariously when humorous things happen...... now that I Think on it, waiting mayyyyy be a good choice.

Re: Using a laptop in bed post op

I did online traing 6 hours a day for 10 days .. Starting 2 days after surgery. I did have one of those trays with fold out legs (Stein Mart, Bealls, Bed Bath & beyond) and actually i think it took my mind off things like pain and feeling sorry for myself
