Ovary Found / Pain Diagnosed

I have posted previously that I was having sharp, cramping pains in my thigh on occasion. I went in for an ultra sound and now have a diagnosis.

The ultra sound confirmed what the doctor had thought. I have a lymphocele (lymphatic cyst). He can actually feel it when doing a pelvic exam. The cyst is hitting a nerve causing the pains. It is not a daily pain. The doctor said he could drain the cyst but does not feel it is necessary yet and I agree since the pain happens only occasionaly. He said that the cyst could get larger, get smaller or just simply go away with time. I am going to take it day by day and see how it progresses.

Has anyone else had this. If so, I would like to hear your situations, prognosis and results.

On a side note, I received my pap results ...negative! Yeah! He also mentioned that I have a cyst on my left ovary and on my right ovary but that they are small. He said they are nothing to worry about at this time.

Thanks again for all of your replies to my previous posts!

Ovary Found / Pain Diagnosed

Hi Shannon,
How wonderful that your dr found this. I've never heard of this before(not saying much). I'm hoping for you that this will just go away in time and not cause you too much discomfort in the meantime.
Thank you for letting us know what you found out.

Ovary Found / Pain Diagnosed

Shannon,

We had our surgeries one day apart! I have been having increasing pain in my right upper thigh and leg over the past few months. This is the same side I had constant pain in pre-op due to a large fibroid pressing on my ovary. I hadn't thought about this being related to surgery or my ovaries at all. I was thinking it may be a problem with my back causing the pain.

Is this cyst attatched to your ovary or to a lymph gland in your groin? What type of ultrasound did your doctor due in order to see it (internal or external)? Did you go to your GYN (or surgeon) or to your GP for diagnosis?

Thanks for posting and let us know how you are doing.

Ovary Found / Pain Diagnosed

MaggieMay,

I had told my doctor(gyn/onc) of the pain in my thigh and he stated during my pelvic exam that he could feel a "puddle" of fluid in my lower left pelvic area. My understanding is that the lymphocele is not attached to anything. It is a fluid filled cyst and is can be caused by the removal of lymph nodes.

He ordered both abdominal and vaginal ultra sounds.

I don't know if I mentioned this but I do also have mild lymphedema in my left leg as well. It is my understanding that the edema may be caused by the lymphocele and that if the lymphocele goes away, my edema may go away. I am praying that is the case.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Shannon
