back to work

I went back to work after 13 days. I worked 4 days straight and took the following Friday off. Slept 12 hours from Thursday night to Friday morning and pretty much rested all of the day. I did "small" stuff. Today I feel wonderful and am ready to gack to work again tomorrow. I think I might take next Friday off too. Three days off in a row is a good way to recuperate.

Back to Work?

For what it's worth, TAKE the 6 weeks, REGARDLESS of how you feel! You're entitled! I had a stellar recovery and went back after 3 weeks. I look back now and wonder why the heck I did that?! Was I trying to show loyalty to the company? It was uncomfortable to sit in an office chair all day long so I did half days for another week but I wish I hadn't tried to be Super Woman! When would I be able to be off for 6 weeks again? Work can WAIT! You take that time for yourself!

Best wishes
Lisa

Back to work

Lisa,
It wasn't loyalty to the company as much as having to go back because of lack of paid sick leave. I am a single parent and have to have a steady income so I can provide for my 16 yr old son and myself. I am glad God provided the energy for me to go back, so I am not complaining too much. I will take one week off the end of July when I am eligible for some more vacation time. If I would not have had so much trouble every month with my periods and terrible cramping my paid sick leave would have accumulated much more. Because of all this monthly misery I finally chose to have a hysterectomy to get some relief.
In other words, I would have loved to stay home for 6 weeks... trust me!

Back to Work?

I would love nothing more than to stay home 6 weeks also. Those of you that can, should feel privileged. I am using sick and vacation time for my recovery and cannot afford the 60% disability with 2 kids in college (they take taxes from that not to mention medical insurance premiums of $480.00 a month). I also have co-workers that I'm very fond of that are working alot of overtime to cover for my absence. So... to all that can take 6 - 8 weeks, enjoy! I'm envious!

Fortunately, I'm in good health and am having a very good recovery.

Back to Work?

I was off six weeks. No pay, no vacation, no sick leave, no savings. I had LAVH, kept ovaries.

I work on my feet 6-8 hours a day in a restaurant. I started back on Thursday on short shifts for the week. Saturday, I worked 5 hours and was in a great deal of discomfort when I got home. Cramps, abdominal pain, vaginal pain, and my lower back was horrible. I took two ibuprofen, slept for two hours, took a hot shower then went to bed. I'm feeling better today but dread going back next week for my regular shifts.

My recovery has been great, no complications other than trying to rush myself back to work at four weeks and my doctor said "no way, I'm not releasing you until six weeks.". I go back to the doctor tomorrow for a check up and will let him know how it's going and see what he suggests.

Everyone's recovery is different so I would just suggest you pay attention to your body tells you.

Good luck and take care of yourself.
