TAH on July 9 2012-Feeling Great

I made the decision to have my hysterectomy because I jut could not continue living through long periods and needing blood tranfusion. This was the best choice for a better life for me. I was taking too many iron pills just to keep a good blood supply to keep my body funtioning.
I had some very large fibroids and that was the reason for the abdominal hysterectomy. They were growing rapidly and causing great pain in my back and legs. I also gain a big belly and started looking more and more like I was expecting. They had to go. I am now three days fro surgury and never felt better. I have even lost 20 pounds already and the bleeding has stopped. Hystersister gave me and palce to share my fears and people to listen to my needs and wants.
People help me have courage and even though I cried on my way to the OR I still knew I would be ok. I joined live chats and read many articules that help me prepare my family and myself for pre-op and post-op. I am healing well and happy with my decision. I even got my staples removed today, y surgeon was great and even took a picture of my large uterus and cervix for me and my husband. Feel great and moving slow. Now the real hard part, no supermom for a while
