I bet you are spitting stitches. I had this too. Sometimes the body rejects some of the internal stitches and they "spit" out of the incision. I had one do that at my two-inch incision, where there were only internals. It hung on for about 10 days and then fell off. I called my surgeon and they said to leave it alone--no trimming, tugging, nothing. If it had stayed on, they said I could come in to have it cut off. It didn't cause any issues for my incisions but looked pretty strange. This is very common! Don't worry about it.

Just leave them be. Skin wounds heal from the inside, pushing newly formed skin to the surface. If stitches haven't dissolved, yes, you may be able to see them coming out. If there's a chance that it might get hooked on something and pull, you might be able to trim if your doctor okays it, OR loosely put a bandaid over it. Sisters call it "spitting stitches"! Sometimes a doctor might pluck the visible ones out, but there's no harm in letting them come out naturally.

Monitor for signs of infection - oozing, pus, warm to the touch. In the absence of those signs, just protect the area. To help calm you, you might want to run it by your doctor tomorrow. It's not likely an emergency.

I had two spitting stitches a year after a breast reduction surgery, they were the "knots" at the end of an incision. Freaked me out a little bit too! My current surgeries were all vaginal, I have already wondered if a year from now something is going to fall out lol!

I'm totally freaking. It's like a car wreck I can't stand to look at it, but I keep looking at it!!! I guess I'll band aid it.
