Not sure where I should post, please help!

I've looked thru the forums, but I'm really not sure where to post.
I've had a failed hysterectomy. They could not get my uterus out becase of sever endo. Waking up from anesthesia and hearing 'your surgery failed' was horrible. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
I was refered to a cancer specialist [though I do not have cancer]
That was my 3rd failed surgery and It's been 4 years now. I've given up.
So I'm post-op and pre-op and sick-of-it-all-op

(((halfwaythere)))

You are not alone!! There have actually been other ladies who have headed into OR for a hysterectomy and when all the endometriosis and adhesions were found, the surgery was canceled! And it is certainly not uncommon to refer ladies with extensive endometriosis to gynecological oncologists if there are no endometriosis specialist available! Additionally, many of us with endometriosis require more than a single surgery. I have had a lap prior and following my hysterectomy. So you have come to the right place for support!

While my GYN was able to complete my hysterectomy, he was not able to remove all of the endometriosis. Thus, years later I had to travel to an endometriosis specialist for further surgery. The specialist was able to skillfully remove all of the adhesions and endometriosis involving my bowels. With each of my three surgeries, various organs have been adhered to other organs or areas they were not suppose to be touching!

Whatever you do, don't give up! There is hope, you just have to find a skilled surgeon who can help you! Endometriosis is tricky and many general gynecologists do not have the skills to treat it successfully. I traveled 3 hours for my last surgery and considered traveling completely across the country! I knew my local doctors couldn't help me so I researched for a couple years until I found someone who could!

Because you have your uterus, you can remove the hysterectomy date from your profile. Instead, you might want to create a signature line (sort of like what you see at the bottom of my post) and list what you have had done. This way we will all be able to offer you the best information and support for your specific situation!

Feel free to post your questions and concerns here in our Endometriosis Support forum and we will do our very best to share our experiences and advice with you! We have all dealt with the complexities of this condition so we are more than willing to offer a helping hand and shoulder to cry on!

Sending extra s your way!

Re: Not sure where I should post, please help!

Wow that is truly unfortunate!! I have never heard of a failed hysterectomy until now, but to tell you the truth I also have endometriosis and I was just telling my husband today that I think the dr is not going to have and easy time of it. I feel like my rt ovary is attached to something (you know the feeling especially when you press). Like you I will be very depressed to wake up and find out that the surgery was for naught!!!

Hang in there and know that we are all wishing you good things to come
