Re: How long out of work?

Hi! I had a TAH on Jan. 4 and started working from home at the end of week two and found I could sit at my desk for only 30 minutes to an hour at a time before becoming uncomfortable. In the last couple weeks I've been able to extend it to one to two hours comfortably. Thursday I worked three hours straight and was so sore I had to stand up to read e-mails that evening so definitely overdid it! I think everyone is different so just ease into it!

Re: How long out of work?

I took six weeks off, but was hoping to go back sooner. After reading everyone's posts, I may just take the entire six weeks off to make sure everything is OKAY.

I am a tech for a junior high. I am able to log into my computer at work and from there I can log into any computer on campus. That way, I can help a lot of people from home. I don't mind doing that and I feel less guilty being gone. Not that I should, but I do. My work is great about it and in fact, the principal (male) has been encouraging me to take the entire time off. He said he has seen teachers out for a few weeks and do fine and others that needed the entire six weeks. He said to do whatever it takes to get better. However, I did not qualify for disability so I am not getting paid during this time. No extra $, but I'm not going anywhere anyway.

It's just hard not to spend money online since I seem to be on so much.

Re: How long out of work?

I had a lapro assisted(I want to say the abrev. is LAV) on Jan 21. I went back to work the 27th. If I could have taken more time off I would have but can't quite afford it. By the end of the day I am done. My dh has been wonderful. I worked part time before so it wasn't a big deal. I do office work and sell auto parts to customers. Needless to say I have done alot of office work.

Re: How long out of work?

I am only three days out but I plan on taking the whole six weeks and then seeing how I feel. I waitress which is not only constantly on my feet but a lot of lifting also. I will not go back before the six weeks even if I feel great because i dont want to do anything that will cause setbacks that could take months to get over. One chance to heal ladys.

Re: How long out of work?

I had surgery January 11 and I'm scheduled to go back to work March 1. Don't rush yourself. Even though you might feel fine you body is still healing on the inside.

Re: How long out of work?

My surgery SAH was 1/26. My doctor said I would be out for 8 weeks barring post operative complications. He also gave my DH a note to be home for 4 weeks.

If I feel up to returning at 8 weeks I will. If not I will be home longer. I only have 1 chance to heal and could not imagine being cut open again ever on my abdomen.

Re: How long out of work?

I had TLH with vaginal "delivery" and went back to work at 2.5 weeks, to a non-lifting job. Wish I'd waited one more week, I tended to "hit the wall" at 2:00 pm and was useless the rest of the day.

Re: How long out of work?

I had my surgery on Jan. 13th. I was told 4-6 weeks to return to work. I work at a middle school and put on roughly 7000 plus steps a day. When I went for my 2 week check my RN said you need to take the full 6 weeks. My hemoglobin is low so I just take a shower and get dressed and I am exhausted. I'm thinking I am taking the full 6 weeks. I still get tired out.

Re: How long out of work?

I am going back 2/16. Tentatively. I had LSH DaVinci 1/25. That's 3 weeks. Week 1 was the worst so far. I finally slept through the night last night for the 1st time without waking up at my usual 2 am. So, I'm just now starting to get tired and being a cry baby. I have stairs to my office so I just emailed my boss and said I'm not going up and down the stairs, you'll have to see me and I may not work the whole day at first. I am supposed to work 10 hour days 5 days a week on a salary and I don't know if I'll be sitting for that long. We'll play that by ear. And if I need longer or shorter I'd let them know as that date approaches.
