No I did nor get a second opinion. I requested my hysterectomy based on some other health issues I was having

I chose to get a second opinion too. I felt the first gyn was not confident enough to do a complicated surgery and i wanted to have a doctor who would be able to do what needed to be done the first time, my gyn actually told me if what he found was too complex during my surgery,then he would stitch me back up and send me to a different doctor.................

I had been trying to have a hysterectomy for about 7 years due to fibroids and bleeding. When I was "granted" the hysterectomy I was actually shocked. I had anticipated it taking another year because i went to a new Dr. I had given up on the last one and stopped thinking about it all together. When things got even worse I decided to start again. Completely shocked that I was given the option...and did question my Dr., but really took a deep breath and let myself finally take care of me!

Yes I did i'm glad did because the second doctor is a robotic da Vinci it The better for me and my uterus is three times bigger than it should be and it's tilted to the left in it it's ripped on one side thisThe second doctor listen to me the first one does blew me off

I had seen my regular gynecologist over the years and she was aware of my fibroids for a while. We discussed options, as I felt the pain and symptoms had reached a point we needed to do something other that watch and wait. She said she could do a myomectomy or an open hysterectomy, but that she hadn't been trained to do laparoscopic so she referred me to a colleague who was actually at a fertility clinic! I laughed at first since I didn't desire to remain fertile, but then realized this surgeon must be very good at operations that require precision in order to spare other women's fertility, so after a couple consults with this second Doctor, I scheduled my laparoscopic total hysterectomy. I'm so glad I did!

I didn't get a second opinion because I had fibroids that needed to be removed. My family doctor had told me that it would probably be the next option.

I had sought many opinions from family practice doctors to Ob-Gyns over the years, with my new insurance, I asked around at work for recommendations for a new, great Ob-Gyn. Ultimately she agreed with me on pursuing more diagnostics and hysterectomy. Once I had met with her, I did not seek other opinions.

I did, in part because my journey started in an ER, but a different hospital/clinic group then I normally go to, and I wanted to have the surgery through them so all my records were together, and because I really like their doctors. So I met with the one from the ER referral, and then my normal system.

One factor was that the surgeon we didn't pick offered to to a stomach stapling as long as he was in there...
