Re: Nerves getting the best of me

Handle one day at a time and prepare the best you can. Making and completing a to-do list may help settle your nerves. Don't worry about after the surgery until after the surgery. Hugs to you!

Re: Nerves getting the best of me

32 hours to go for me... Just posted a similar thread below.
I am not a happy camper.
Worried, worried, irritated (haha), and... Oh yeah.. Worried!

Hang in there... At least it'll be done and over soon.
Try not to "what if" too much.

Easier said than done, I know.

Re: Nerves getting the best of me

Hey Ladies, new here. Going in for surgery Thursday. Nerves started getting to me yesterday. Dreamed crazy mess last night and woke up with huge butterflies. I have a "to do" list I am working on for the next three days in an attempt to be prepared but it's just basically to keep myself busy. I'll be so glad when this is over.................. This will be my fourth surgery in four years. I had thyroid cancer surgery, gallbladder surgery and an ablation all in one year. Now back to this again............ ugh. I know quite a bit about what's coming and I'm dreading it. BUT, I'm also hearing ALOT about how much better I'll feel when this is over and how I probably haven't realized how long this has made me feel badly or run me down. So,.......let's look toward that and recognize how much better we'll feel when this is over. The good coming will definitely out weight the bad.

Re: Nerves getting the best of me

I remember clearly the stress prior to surgery. That stress was much worse that the surgery or post-op experiences by far. So, as much as you can, take it easy, try not to stress. I had a "goodbye lady bits" party with friends before my surgery. We all went out to dinner and I told them all to wear red. We were a beautiful bunch. I also constantly read my "post-week" forum and got immense comfort from that. It was incredibly invaluable to me. Those ladies from my week got me through it. It was there that I could post all the small and big things that I was experiencing physically, emotionally, personally, etc. So, I'd recommend that you check and participate on your post-op thread. When you go to the hospital, just know that there are hundreds of women back here on HysterSisters cheering you on and wishing you all the best. Big HUG!!
