Sudden appearance of bruise ~ anyone else?

Hi there,
I am beginning my second week of recovery after having a total hysterectomy using the Da Vinci robot. I have four small incisions that look great, no bruising, still have steri-strips on them. This morning I changed my estrogen patch for the first time and went to apply it to my right buttock and to my surprise saw a huge bruise on my hip! I have had sore hips since coming home, but I think I would have noticed this bruise before... it's about four inches long and two inches wide! I do not have a bruise on the left but it isn't as sore. Has anyone had a bruise suddenly show up like that a week after surgery that isn't located where your incision(s) are?
