Family seems to be coming around.

Hi Ladies,

My parents seem to be coming around a little. I agreed to get a second opinion, because I am sure the doctor after hearing my history will approve of my plans. And, hopefully put my family at ease. But even if they don't I will still go ahead with the surgery.

My dad's sister who is a nurse, fully supports what I am doing.
I will meet with my gyno on Tuesday to discuss the hysterectomy.
I still don't know what type of hysterectomy we are going to do.I may possibly get it done as soon as Thursday. I will be so relieved when it is over.

If my family can't be supportive during this time I will just avoid them until they accept the fact that I am an adult. They may be upset, even though they deny it, I won't be able to have grandkids. But, if I want to I can always adopt.

Best wishes to everyone.

Family seems to be coming around.

Glad to hear your family is coming around. They want what is best for you. That being said, parents tend to forget we are adults and have to make our own decisions. I am sure they were very surprised when you told them you were having a hysterectomy. Some people need time to absorb information. It was not right for them to take your plan of treatment into their hands and to seek other doctors opinions since you are an adult.

My parents always wanted me to make their decision in things I had to decide. After many years, they finally learned that they could make a suggestion but the dicision was ultimately mine to make and if they disagreed with it "too bad."

If your parents are worried they could not love a child that was adopted, just wait until that time comes. I have three nieces and nephews who are adopted and they are loved by their grandparents as much as the 7 who were born into the family.

s to you and let us know how things go for you. You and your family are in my ers

Family seems to be coming around.

Maybe your parents just needed a bit of time to get used to the idea, sometimes they just want what's best for you and it does'nt matter how old you are!!! I am sure when my 2 boys are older I will be an interfering old bag, lol! Hopefully not. I hope things start getting easier for you now, good luck. xx
