Post Op issues and confused

My complete hysterectomy was 2/12/2013.
so far
1 .it's painful to have a bowel movement- my stomach cramps really bad before and during and after.

2. I have a rash on my stomach that's painful and raised that developed the 2nd day after my surgery, I 'm using benedryl but it only helps the itching

3. my incisions are itchy - they stitched them but used derma bond over the stitches some of the derma bond is coming off now.

4. urinating is painful in the last few days.

My follow up isn't til the 25th, I haven't had a fever, or bleeding.

I'm not sure if these things are normal, and I've been so strangely calm, only 2 hot flashes since I started my patch.

If anyone can help I am open to any suggestions

I've been trying to watch my food intake, extra calcium as it was suggested.

I thank you in advance.

Re: Post Op issues and confused

Pain and discomfort during a BM Hun is normal. My insides were tender and dire for a long time.
Have you talked to your doctor about the rash? I think I would call the office to let them know what you are experiencing Hun
Itchy incision is part of healing Hun and is very normal. Mine itched for a while Hun. Benadryl is good for that too
After the catheter us removed it us normal to have some pain when you pee. If you find that it burns, looks cloudy, has a strong smell, and you have to go pee many times in an hour then you may have a uti and you need to let your doctor know if this rite away.
I hope this helps done Hun. Happy healing

Re: Post Op issues and confused

I had really painful BM's for about 2 weeks after my surgery. I mean about come up off the toilet it hurt Soo bad! My dr said it was normal because my intestines got moved around alot and "man handled" during surgery along with the gas they pump into ya. Thankfully it went away!
My puncture holes as the doc called them itched too. I had No stitches just bandaids! Crazy to me and yes they itched like crazy. I guess that ment they were healing?
The rash sounds like an allergic reaction to me, have you talked to your dr about it?

Re: Post Op issues and confused

it's good to know that the BM pain is normal and now to hear you say that about my intestines that totally makes sense, I've been using neosporene to help with the itchies, a little, healing, and the rash yes I've been using benedryle, and calamine lotion to help it , my doc said just use the benedryle. Thank you so much, this is so new to me, so many said I would have hot flashes and mood swings and not be able to sleep but no one said anythinga bout this, I 'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is having issues, this site is a blessing.

Re: Post Op issues and confused

I did call my doctor about the pain during urination, I have a UTI, which is healing but with all the other issues it's on the way to mending as the rest of me, I keep waiting for the fatigue but so far none unless I don't rest during the day. Thank you so much.

Re: Post Op issues and confused

After my second surgery, I had a severe allergic reaction to the dermabond that was used. I ended up having to take an oral steroid for 4 weeks along with benadryl and also use hydrocortizone cream. It made my recovery miserable from the itching, redness and discomfort...couldn't wear pants for weeks! Hope it doesn't get that bad for you...keep on top of it! Best of luck with your recovery and take it slow.

Re: Post Op issues and confused

you know that would make a lot of sense, I am allergic to latex and they used stitches and dermabond over the stitches...the rash is still there but not as bad, my doctor thinks the rash is from the anatesha which did burn my face somewhat since they used gas with drugs to put me down during the surgery.
