12 days post hysterectomy: Incision infection?

Doc already prescribed antibiotics yesterday due to chills, low grade fevers, nausea and zero appetite. Now when a steri-strip partially came off i noticed it red strip had a yucky odor to it. I wonder if that is where my infection may be.

Should I wait to see how I do on antibiotics or go to ER? (An hour away&#128577??

Thank you

Discharge & bleeding while incisions heal are normal. When that discharge gets on the steri strip, it absorbs & the odor -bacteria is likely whats on the strips. Is it healed? That happened to me at week 2, although mine wasnt infected. My incision was closed, it was pink in color. I showered & I took off the yucky strips. Throughly dry off with a blow dryer, then place a pad to absorb any discharge or wick perspiration. If its not healed then call your Dr, ask what to do... My Dr told me at my 2 week appt that I could apply Neosporin. I did & it burned, I had to wash it off..

Isn't there an Urgent Care or your primary doctor around where you live rather than go to the ER?
