Newby - Question

I'm 46 years old. I had a partial (cervix and ovaries not removed) hysterectomy with laproscopy and the DaVinci robotics on Sept 2nd. I had my post-op doc appointment on Tue (12 days post op) and the doc said everything is good. Since then, I've started to have hot flashes and night sweats pretty regularly. What the heck? Is this normal? Does surgery shock you into menopause even if you weren't having symptoms before surgery?

Re: Newby - Question

its my understanding that the ovaries sometimes have to "wake back up" after surgery. seems some people experience symptoms differently. wishes for a speedy and uneventful recover.

Re: Newby - Question

My ovaries went to sleep after the surgery & I had the hot flashes & night sweats bad too. In the 2nd month my ovaries woke back up & little by little they symptoms went away & then I was fine. My ovaries are working normally now. So I would say yes, it is probably normal. You can always call the doctors office & ask them just so you feel sure. Best wishes to you.
