Re: Traveling after surgery

My doctor told me to increase the amount of vitamin C I was taking before surgery and keep taking the higher dose after surgery. Sorry, I have forgotton how much I took and for how long.
About traveling: I know that I enjoyed seeing people during my recovery. My husband and I often had people over who understood that I might quietly drift off to sleep in whatever comfortable spot I was in--and I often did fall asleep! When visiting I kept 2 things in mind--road conditions and where I would be able to place my sore body. Bumpy roads jiggled my abdomen too much and made me quite sore. I avoid trips to some towns because of this. At home, I found I was pretty fussy about how I had to sit or recline to be comfortable. This included rearranging some furniture so I could always have my feet propped up, be surrounded by pillows, and have choice of the most comfortable furniture. I was able to slowly climb stairs, but had to keep this to a minimum. Personally, if I had a opportunity to visit family knowing the family would happily accomodate my needs, I would have gone. Good luck with your decision!
