I Did It !!!

I had a sub-total abdominal hysterectomy on Wed. 10/27. (Kept ovaries and cervix). For all you biting your nails about upcoming surgery....it wasn't that bad! Not nearly as bad as I had anticipated. Pain meds take care of the pain so well.

The one thing that was a real life-saver was that Swelly Belly Band I ordered on this website. It came in the mail 1 day after my surgery (only took 3 days to get here). It's not so much the coldness that helps, although that does feel awfully good, but the SUPPORT it gives you around the middle! I wear it all the time now, even when the cold wears off. I took it off to take a shower and felt a little like my insides were gonna fall out! LOL It really aleviates the pain too. I highly recommend it.

If you don't buy the band, at least wrap your middle snuggly with an ACE bandage when you get home. That's what my sister's doctor told her to do and she said it really helped. I wonder why doctors or hospitals don't provide something for that area? Of course, ask your doctor before you do this. I'm no expert.

Anyway, I'm doing fine, getting back to normal. Even helped my husband cook dinner tonight (he still burned the rice!).

Girls, please don't wrap an ace bandage around your belly without first checking with your dr.
